Business as usual

is dead

A brief overview of the ongoing transformations of the Earth system (climate change in its current and future disruptions, pollution, biodiversity loss) and of their consequences for the context in which companies operate. The growing influence of environmental considerations among various stakeholders.

The concrete implications of these changes for corporate business models: new risks, market opportunities/transformations, the behaviour of financial resources, and talent attractiveness.

Shaping Tomorrow’s Business Models :

What makes a winner ?

We will explore the new political and institutional environment influencing the economy at large and how these changes will create winners and losers, making clear that being among the front-movers is safer than being among the laggards in the transformation ahead. We would also discuss what are some key features that makes winning companies in this transformation.

A Fresh Look at the Board’s Role and Responsibilities in a Shifting World

In the face of today’s environmental and social disruptions, the role of the board is evolving — and fast. Guiding a company through this transformation is no longer just about oversight: it’s about long-term stewardship, purpose, and impact.

We will revisit the board’s specific duties to defend the company’s interests and how these translate into concrete governance practices.

Water, Energy, Food: Managing Strategic Interdependence

The NEXUS shows the interdependence of water, land, and energy: pressure on one disrupts the whole system.

Today, climate change drives unprecedented stress. States will face tough trade-offs, and businesses will only secure resources by proving collective value, efficiency, and respect for planetary boundaries.

Resilience of the company and its ecosystem

We have opened a Pandora’s box of novel, systemic, and hard-to-quantify threats. In a disrupted system, the past offers no guidance. These interconnected risks reinforce one another, creating constellations of disruption.

Boards must focus on what truly needs protection and build organizational resilience: respond to the unpredictable through flexibility and redundancy, shift from rigid financial planning to scenario planning, and recognise that resilience is collective — companies survive only within resilient ecosystems.
